Although cell phones and other recent electronic inventions measure the passing of time, each of us measures it according to when our memory first began recording.

For my friend that was born in 1929, time began during the Great Depression in the 1930s. For another friend that was born just a few years later, time began with seeing her parents count their ration stamps for food, gasoline, shoes, and other items essential to daily living during World War II.

After the end of World War II, predictions of future happenings included seemingly impossible occurrences, such as man walking on the moon and personal wireless devices. While those predictions seemed impossible at the time, they have happened!

Similarly, some of the predictions that Jesus made did happen while he was alive. Some happened after his death while still others have yet to happen.

For example, in the New Living Translation, Luke 21:27 says, "Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory." Prior to the technological advances that we have seen since World War II, it seemed impossible that everyone everywhere would see Jesus returning on a cloud, but, with television and satellites transmitting images around the world, that is now possible.

We can't know how God will carry out the predictions that were made in the Bible. In the same way that the Jews did not expect how the predictions made in the Old Testament would occur, we cannot foretell the ways that the predictions Jesus made will come about. However, we can trust that they will happen as long as we follow the admonition of Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (NKJV)

Prayer: Vigilant Lord, please strengthen my faith to trust that the predictions in the Bible will happen. In the name of Jesus, amen.
