"I can see you out of the corner of my eye. I'm watching!"
Conversations similar to this one have taken place throughout the ages. One of the jobs of mothers is to watch their children - seemingly from the eyes in the backs of their heads - and often while simultaneously performing an endless list of tasks.
But, somehow, the clothes get mended and washed, the food gets bought and cooked, the dishes get washed, and the house gets cleaned. Proverbs 31:27-28a sums it up when it says, "She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed."
Well, maybe her children don't say that when they are young, but the day does come when they thank her for her sacrifices.
It has happened to me, and it will happen for you.
"Thanks, Mom, for all you've done! I may have been a tough kid to raise, but I appreciate you."
If it hasn't happened yet, it will because your children are watching you, too.
Like most mothers, this one appears to have eyes in the back of her head. [Photographer: Archan Kar. Photo courtesy of Stockvault.net.]
